Home Video Report: A Children's Classic, Refreshed
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Our heavy holiday season is approaching, along with selections of some impressive videos.
Few of us thought there would be another Winnie the Pooh movie, but there's a new Pooh epic -- now out on DVD -- narrated by John Cleese. It's a rare piece of animation that does not make a desperate grab for children (or adults) but simply honors the intelligence of the original classic.
Crazy, Stupid, Love -- a Ryan Gosling special -- is also on DVD.
And, from 1988, a new release of Bill Murray in Scrooged, with Murray as a TV executive in this riff on A Christmas Carol.
Water For Elephants features Reese Witherspoon in a romance under the big top.
A new release of 1985's To Live and Die In LA, with Willem Dafoe, is out. It's about a cop and a counterfeiter.
And, from 1932, look for Charles Laughton and Bela Lugosi in the monster movie Island of Lost Souls, adapted from HG Wells' The Island of Dr. Moreau.
