PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- J. Edgar Hoover was one of the most important law enforcement figures this country had in close to half a century -- feared, admired, and reviled. He held secrets behind closed doors that could have destroyed his image, even his life. Still, he survived.
Last year, under the direction of Clint Eastwood, Leonardo DiCaprio starred in a drama exploring the life of one of the most controversial figures of the 20th century. J. Edgar is out this week on home video. (Read Bill Wine's review.)
In 1959, James Stewart played a small-town lawyer defending a military man charged with killing his wife's rapist in the Otto Preminger-directed, Anatomy of a Murder. It's now available on Blu-ray.
And, if you are a Lawrence Welk fan, there's now a four-disk set of his popular "champagne music" first aired in Los Angeles in 1951 but as popular as ever.
