Man Says It Took Him 8 Days To Hitchhike From Washington State To Philadelphia To See Pope
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A man tells CBS 3 Eyewitness News he hitchhiked from Washington state to Philadelphia for the papal visit.
(Greg Argos:) "How did you get here?"
"I hitchhiked," Corky said.
When asked why it was so important to be in Philadelphia, he said:
"I love the Pope, I have prayers that I need best for sick relatives and I don't know how to say it, but my heart is full."
(Greg Argos:) "You want his blessing."
"Yes, my blessing of the Pope I think it's important we recognize the traditions of the church as being a part of our lives," he said.
He says it took him eight days to travel to Philadelphia.
"People in this country are beautiful. I'm very grateful," he said.
He reportedly is going to hitchhike home.
