Historic Houses Of Fairmount Park To Host Open House
By Hadas Kuznits
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The historic houses of Fairmount Park host a holiday open house next month.
Tyson Gardner, tour guide and the docent at Laurel Hill Mansion says the historic villas are open to the public December 1st through the 9th.
"There are seven house museums that are open for public tours in Fairmount Park of the main park and unfortunately this year, three of them are under renovations of some sort, so this year only four houses are going to be open."
For more, listen to this CBS Philly podcast:
He says each house will be festive, with some offering spice tea and even music.
"You can just show up, it's $5 a person. The houses do close Monday and Tuesday. Just pay at the door."
And he says the tour will take you back to times that pre-date the revolution.
Kuznits: "And the oldest house was built when?"
Gardner: "That's hard to say, but around 1755."
