Poll Reflects Hillary Clinton Post-Convention Boost

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new CBS News Poll shows Hillary Clinton receiving a four-point post-convention boost.

According to the new poll, 46% of voters nationwide say they'll vote for Clinton in November, while 39% say they'll vote for Donald Trump. This comes after a tied race last week following the Republican National Convention.

I think you can make the case the [Democrats] had a more successful convention in terms of the kind of message they wanted to promote, both in attacking Trump and building up Secretary Clinton's message of "Stronger Together," said Matt Levendusky, an associate professor of politics at University of Pennsylvania.

Levendusky says the post-convention polls are accurate, but represent a snapshot in time. He expects them to fluctuate as the November general election approaches.

"From this point on, the polls are going to become increasingly accurate," explained Levendusky.

"Once we start having the debates, [voters will] crystalize on a choice and from that point on we'll probably see less movement [in the polls]."
