Hello Summer!

By Steven Strouss

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Summer arrives Saturday at 6:51am EDT. This is the moment when the sun shines directly on the Tropic of Cancer or the imaginary latitude line 23° 26' north of the Equator. Philadelphia will enjoy its longest 'day' of the year with 15 hours and 38 seconds of daylight. By comparison cities like Fairbanks, Reykjavik, Oulu, and Arkhangelsk will all see over 21 hours of daylight with sunset times after midnight and sunrise times before 3am.

Despite the summer solstice, temperatures are only expected to top off in the 70s throughout the region on Saturday because of more clouds and an easterly (onshore) wind. A stationary front will be located to our south during the day and could bring a few showers to parts of extreme southern NJ and Delaware. Skies will clear Sunday and sunshine will return along with more seasonable temperatures. Nice weather is expected early next week with temperatures in the mid 80s. Here is your weekend forecast:

Saturday - Clouds Giving Way to Sun.  High 74.
Sunday - Partly to Mostly Sunny. High 76.

Shore

Saturday - Partly Sunny with a Shower or Two.  High 76.
Sunday - Mostly Sunny. High 77.
Ocean Water Temp - 74.

Firefly (Dover):
Saturday - Mostly cloudy, A passing Shower. High 77.
Sunday - Mostly Sunny and nice. High 80
