Helicopter Crash In The Poconos Kills 2
TOBYHANNA, Pa. (CBS/AP) - Two people are dead and one person in critical condition after a helicopter crash in the Poconos Tuesday night.
Investigators say they were aboard a recreational helicopter en route from New York state to New Jersey when the copter hit trees and crashed in Coolbaugh Township, Pa. (Monroe County) at about 10 p.m.
The chopper was found in a wooded area near Route 380 at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
County coroner Bob Allen says searchers were able to find the crash site by homing in on cell phones aboard the small helicopter.
Authorities have identified the victims as 52-year-old William Ellsworth, of Califon N.J., and 51-year-old Tighe Sullivan, of Darien, Conn. A third man, Stephen Barral, of Bernardsville, N.J., was seriously hurt.
