Heavy Rains Soak Eastern Pa.; Flooding Possible
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The National Weather Service is warning that heavy rain may lead to flash floods in the Philadelphia area and parts of eastern Pennsylvania.
Meteorologist say thunderstorms on Friday could yield rainfall rates of more than 2 inches per hour. Isolated storm totals could reach 3 or 4 inches by 8 p.m.
Reports from western Wayne County in northeastern Pennsylvania indicate flooding west of Honesdale near campsites. The weather service says up to 5 inches of rain may have fallen since early Friday afternoon.
Southeastern Pennsylvania is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. Friday.
The flash-flood warning for the Philadelphia area expires at 9:45 p.m. Friday.
