Heavy Rain Brings Flooding, Road Closures To Montgomery County

SKIPPACK, Pa., (CBS) -- Montgomery County is dealing with its share of flooding and road closures Wednesday night, including a section of Route 73 between Cross and Plank Roads. PennDOT says a car has been stuck there in high water since 4:30 p.m.
The area is located along the Perkiomen Creek. The National Weather Service says the creek will crest around 6 a.m. Thursday.
Before day turned to night, the Schuylkill River in Conshohocken tested its banks.
The current racing around trees, the water making heavy logs look light as limbs.
Much of the same throughout Montgomery County.
More rain this time forcing Skippack Creek to overtake its boundaries along Route 73.
"It's just terrible. The flooding is everywhere. I've been on the road a couple hours," Bob Bonenberger of Skippack said.
Farther northwest near Perkiomen Creek, road closure signs dotted Skippack Pike.
Some got caught ignoring the warnings.
Others frustrated just trying to make their way home.
"It's flooded. You just have to stop, and turn around, and go a different way, and you get there, and it's closed too," Bonenberger said.
And many more worried what home would look like once they got there.
"There might be some in my basement now that. I think about it but you know that's part of the fun, but at least not snow right? At least it's not snow," Darby Macmullen of Skippack said
PennDOT is reminding people tonight that those road closure signs are there for a reason.
A car got stuck around 4:30 p.m. and a number of cars keep coming, some chancing it.
Crews tell CBS 3 there was even a water rescue nearby, so you have to take this water seriously.
