Homeowner Credits Doorbell Camera For Keeping Her Safe During Vineland House Fire

VINELAND, N.J. (CBS) -- A homeowner is crediting her doorbell camera for keeping her safe during a house fire in Vineland. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.

Flames broke out on the 1700 block of West Oak Lane, around 5 a.m.

Chopper 3 was over the scene where several charred cars could be seen next to the home.

The smoke from the fire in the garage triggered the motion sensor in the camera.

"We were asleep and my mobile phone and my boyfriend's mobile phone both rang from the ring's monitoring system. We thought someone was at the door. He went to open the door and smoke consumed our bedroom, so whatever was happening had already began. I grabbed my glasses and my phone and dropped to the floor and crawled out the front door," said homeowner Rosa Gonzalez.

Gonzalez says the fire spread very quickly through the garage.

The fire was put under control about an hour later.

There were no reports of injuries.
