Heat Warning Issued For Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The city of Philadelphia will be under a heat warning Monday and Tuesday.
The heat warning was issued by the National Weather Service in conjunction with the Philadelphia Health Department. This activates the city's special summer heat programs including in home visits by field teams, the HEAT-line operated by the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging and city efforts to encourage the public to look in on older friends, relatives and neighbors.
The Heatline number is 215-765-9040, and will open at noon on Monday.
Those most at risk during excessive heat are the elderly with chronic medical conditions such as heart disease, people taking certain medications, pregnant women and very young children.
The Philadelphia Health Department is urging everyone to avoid working or playing strenuously in the hot sun. Wear a hat and use air conditioning and use fans, but only with the windows open.
The warning signs of heat stress are decreased energy, loss of appetite, dry skin, chest pain, even vomiting and difficulty breathing. If you see anyone suffering these symptoms, call 9-1-1 immediately.
