Hearing Set For Troubled Delaware Charter School
DOVER, Del. (AP) -- Supporters of a struggling charter school for girls that is facing closure are getting a final chance to make their case to keep the school open.
The state Charter School Accountability Committee has recommended unanimously that the charter for Reach Academy for Girls in Wilmington be revoked because of operational and financial mismanagement.
A public hearing on the committee's final report was set for Monday evening at the state Department of Education offices in Dover.
Reach Academy has struggled financially since it opened last year as the only all-girls public school in the state.
State officials put the school on formal review in December, and members of the school's board resigned earlier this year.
