Hear Philly: Wine And Music Take Center Stage At Delco Festival
By Andrew Kramer
CHADDS FORD, Pa. (CBS) - You'll get to sample some of your favorite wines while rocking out to live music Saturday, May 17th at the Penns Woods Winery Wine and Music Festival in Chadds Ford, Delaware County.
Marketing director Carley Razzi Mack says this festival, entering its fourth year, continues to grow in popularity:
"It actually started as a wine and jazz festival, and over the years we kind of wanted to include more music variety, so we started it this year as a wine and music festival."
Live music kicks off at noon, and two different bands will be performing throughout the day.
"We have a duo starting out -- Grace -- they're actually a husband and wife duo," Razzi Mack says. "They do original music and covers of classic rock and fun, pop music. The second band in the afternoon is called Bushmaster. This is a gentleman in a band, he does blues and funk music that's fun to dance to and bop around."
And where there's music, there'll be wine -- available all throughout the day by the glass for tasting.
"The wine people will be sampling will be more heavy on the whites because it's the summertime," explains Razzi Mack. "We'll have Traminette, which is a local variety. Then we have Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and we'll always have our flagship reds, which is our Proprietor Reserve -- a Merlot Cabernet Blend. We also have our Chamberson and regular Merlots."
While this is an event wine and music enthusiasts will certainly enjoy, Razzi Mack says feel free to bring the kids along, as it will also be a family-friendly festival:
"It's not adult-only. A lot of people come out to spend the day with friends. We also have local vendors, anywhere from candle companies to local artisan items such as cheeses, handbags, things like that."
And let's not forget the food! The Meat House -- a local butcher -- will have a wagon on hand, serving up fillet tips and different sandwiches.
Razzi Mack says their focus on everything local makes this festival truly unique:
"We have local food, vendors, music and, obviously, local wine. It's a day you can really see what's around you."
The entire Penns Woods Winery staff will be on hand throughout the festival to answer any questions you may have.
