Hawes Leads 76ers To 107-75 Romp Over Celtics
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Spencer Hawes scored 17 points and Thaddeus Young had 15 to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 107-75 win over the Boston Celtics on Monday night.
Lavoy Allen had 11 points and Evan Turner 10 for the Sixers. With Andrew Bynum out the entire preseason as a precaution after receiving knee treatment in Germany, the Sixers are mixing up their frontcourt rotation. Hawes, their starting forward came, off the bench and made six of 10 shots.
Young and Allen started and combined for 11 rebounds and 12-of-21 shooting. Nick Young scored 14 points.
Paul Pierce scored 16 points and Brandon Bass added 11 for the Celtics. Kevin Garnett was given the night off.
The Sixers dominated the third quarter to stretch a seven-point lead to 21. They closed the period on a 9-0 run and hit the 100-point mark with 4:50 left in the game.
