By RJ McKay
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Joan Myers Brown, the executive artistic director of Philadanco, spoke about the program, "Having Our Say," at the Perelman Theater from April 17th – 19th.
"Every year we come back to the Kimmel, we try to have an exciting program. So this year, I want to feature four Black choreographers that are women, and I took the title 'Having Our Say' from the book by the Delaney Sisters, who had their say at 90-years-old. So I got four exciting women and four exciting ballets, two we have done before, not recently, and two brand new premieres."
She also shared more details about one of the ballets.
"Hand singing song, which is about the way Black people use their hands to make gestures. In the Black Power movement, high five, and that's really something I think even the youngsters are going to enjoy."
