Hartnell Extension Latest Move Of Flyers Busy Offseason

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – After inking Wayne Simmonds to a multi-year extension last week, the Flyers yesterday announced a long term extension for forward Scott Hartnell.
Hartnell scored a career high 37 goals last season, playing in all 82 games for the Orange and Black.
The Flyers have been very active this offseason, but not necessarily successful. They were rebuffed in their aggressive pursuit of the two big names on the free agent market, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter. And of course they were turned away by Nashville when they signed restricted free agent Shea Weber to an offer sheet and the Predators matched that lucrative deal. Since then, the Flyers have turned their attention to taking care of some players already on the roster.
Still, he big item on the agenda for all hockey fans is whether there will even be a season as the players and the league try to negotiate a new CBA before the current one expires on September 15th.
