Harrisburg Restaurant Owner May Sue New Secretary of Health
HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) -- The owner of a downtown Harrisburg eatery says he may file a lawsuit over what he believes is the misuse of power by the new state secretary of health, who triggered an inspection of his restaurant.
We spoke with Richard Hanna as he grilled up goodies for the lunch crowd at his restaurant, Roxy's, across from the state capitol. Hanna says he was visited by Harrisburg city health inspectors acting on a complaint from the state's Secretary of Health Eli Avila. He says it all started when Avila showed up at his restaurant and wasn't happy with an egg sandwich he ordered.
"It's so funny...I was making breakfast for myself, and he came in here and said he was in a hurry, so I was kind enough to give him my own breakfast, and he demanded the sandwich wasn't fresh. And, you know, I own the place, I'm not going to give him a bad sandwich, because I want him to come back. He was really just an arrogant person – very unprofessional," Hanna says.
Hanna also says Avila is damaging his reputation and may take legal action. In a written statement, a spokeswoman for Avila says that when the secretary visited Roxy's and saw what he believed to be unsanitary conditions, he felt a duty to report it.
