Philadelphia's Half Marathon In May Is Offering Up A Unique Post-Race Refreshment
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A half marathon next month here in Philadelphia is offering up some unique post-race refreshment.
A study out of Spain a few years ago found the salts, sugars, and bubbles in beer did a better job of rehydrating the body than water.
So ODDessey Half Marathon race director Carl Ewald says they've teamed up Triumph Brewing.
"They've invited the ODDessey Half Marathon Recovery Ale, which is designed to be crisp and refreshing and then to rehydrate our runners."
And Ewald says runners can sample the science behind Recovery Ale in a couple weeks. "We know that there are a lot of runners out there who want to test this theory so we're hosting a party at Triumph Brewery right after the Broad Street Run."
The Oddessey Half is May 22nd.
