Hair Salons Gel Together To Help Sandy Victims
By Brad Segall
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - A half a dozen hair salons in Doylestown are joining forces to help those in need this holiday season.
The stylists' are putting the word out to their customers again this year as they collect food and other items to restock the shelves at the New Britain Baptist Food Larder. Supplies there have been low since Hurricane Sandy when the Food Larder was without power for four days.
Coordinator Dottie Rimmer says the donations are more important this year to help them support the people in the community who need a helping hand.
"After Christmas most of the donations will drop off significantly. People are very generous through November and December but after Christmas there are no more drives. Food will trickle in."
The larder lost more than two thousand dollars worth of meat during the storm but that has already been replaced. Now they're looking for non-perishable food items as well as toiletries and personal items.
