Habitat For Humanity Holds Grand Opening For Its New Store In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It may sound a little odd but the grand opening is next Saturday for an unusual store that's been open more than a month.
ReStore is Habitat for Humanity's 19,000 square foot outlet in Kensington, sort of Goodwill meets Home Depot, says Habitat's Corinne O'Connell.
"It's going to be game-changing for Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia and I think it's a great investment for the city itself where there's a place where items can go, gently-used that can have a second life."
It also sells windows, appliances, doors, tile, paint, and other home improvement items. ReStore has also been a learning experience for Professor Jim Hutchin's Temple Business students.
"Habitat for Humanity was kind enough to let us put together a program where we used a full-time MBA class to put together a business plan for their ReStore venture."
A plan that O'Connell says was instrumental in getting a William Penn Foundation grant to get the doors open.
