DREXEL HILL, Pa. (CBS) – Police say two armed men robbed a Chickie's & Pete's in Drexel Hill, Delaware County Sunday morning.
This happened around 9:45 a.m. at the restaurant located on the 5000 block of West Township Line Road.
Police say the gunmen entered from a side door and walked right to the manager's office, demanding money while putting a gun to her head. After she brought them to the safe, the suspects reportedly stole over $16,000 as well as night receipts.
According to police, the gunmen appeared to know exactly where to go and one was dressed in what looked to be a Chickie's & Pete's sweatshirt.
But that's not all. Police say one of the gunmen locked the manager, along with three other employees in a freezer. The four employees were found by the kitchen manager, who showed up a short time later.
"We're absolutely blessed nobody was hurt, nobody was injured," store General Manager Sean McGranaghan says. "That's the important thing."
Meanwhile, the gunmen got away and police are now reviewing surveillance video from both Chickie's & Pete's and other nearby businesses as an investigation continues.
Business opened as usual Sunday and McGranaghan says some of the employees involved in the incident still worked their regular shift.
