Guilty Plea Expected From Parx Jockey After Bizarre Behavior Results In His Being Shot

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- A once promising horse-racing jockey who was shot during a bizarre crime spree in Bensalem (Bucks County), Pa. in late December is expected to plead guilty to his crimes after he was ordered held for trial.
Angel Suarez Medero waived his preliminary hearing on theft, assault, and related charges in connection with a series of incidents at the Franklin Commons Apartments.
Defense attorney Bill Goldman says they didn't want the victims to have to recount what happened that night and now says he will sit down with prosecutors in an effort to work out a plea deal.
Goldman says his 21-year-old client has no idea what triggered his unusual behavior.
"The best suggestion that we have is that he had smoked marijuana, and our fear is that that marijuana had been laced or had been tainted in some way," Goldman tells KYW Newsradio.
Police say Suarez exposed himself to a female resident, broke into her apartment, and then another apartment, and assaulted two residents before a man grabbed a gun and shot him twice.
He continues to recover from serious injuries. He was a jockey at Parx Racetrack, in Bensalem.
