Groaning About The Philadelphia Heat Wave? Try Being A Dry Cleaner
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Local dry cleaners who do their own work in-house are sweating the details in this heat wave.
They do it all at Bobby Shorr's on Headhouse Square, on Second Street near Lombard, where their full-service cleaning establishment, offering washing, dry cleaning, and repairs, heats things up.
"Temperatures in here can reach about 125 degrees," says Sarah, who makes sure that one of the ten or so fans running there is pointed her way, near the cash register.
"The only thing that we can do to stay cool is drink plenty of water, get in front of the fans, and go outside in the shade once in a while," she says.
Sarah says that although it's hot in the front -- the retail side of the store -- it's even worse on the other side of the building, where the cleaning and pressing machines are running.
"Now over on that side, temperatures can reach 150," she told KYW Newsradio this morning.
Even the customers bringing in clothes commiserated with Sarah over the wilting temperatures as they stepped inside Bobby Shorr's.
