Grinch Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Holiday Decorations In Gloucester Township
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) – Police in South Jersey have arrested a holiday Grinch after several thefts in the area.
On Nov. 23 around 8:15 p.m., police received a call about a female who was seen taking Christmas decorations from a yard on the 400 block of Dearborne Avenue in Blackwood, NJ.
The suspect was driving a vehicle identified by an observant neighbor as a Nissan minivan. That person was also able to provide a partial vehicle registration.
It was then discovered that there had been a second theft of holiday décor on the same block by the same people.
The suspect was eventually located on Salem Avenue in Sewell, where she was hiding the stolen decorations in a wooded area at the end of the street.
Police then located the suspect, 47-year-old Jeanette P. Montanez, of Turnersville, at a Wawa on Hurfville Road, where she was arrested.
After recovering the property, it was discovered that there had been other theft attempts earlier in Gloucester Township on Glamis Road and Deborah Place.
The stolen property was recovered and returned to its owners, and Montanez was charged with two counts of Theft and two counts of Criminal Attempt/Theft.
