Green Thumbs Wonder If Plants Will Survive The Wild Winter Season

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--As our odd winter weather continues, you might be wondering if your plants and shrubs will survive the winter of 2014.
If you don't like the weather, just wait a day the temperature could swing 40 degrees, add in some rain or sleet and snow and you have difficult conditions.
Anthony Aiello, Director of Horticulture at Morris Arboretum in Chesnut Hill says the plants and shrubs should be fine. It's been consistently cold enough, long enough to keep them dormant
"The best thing to do is plant plants that are really adapted to our area, it's when you grow things from Florida or you see in the south those are the things that don't really do so great around here and are more susceptible to the normal fluctuations we have around here."
He says if there is some die back or damage to the plant, you won't see it until the spring bloom.
