Governor Rendell Does Not Act Like 'Lame Duck'
Even with just a few months left in office, Governor Rendell refuses to wear the label of "Lame Duck", something unusual in Pennsylvania politics.
KYW's Tony Romeo reports last week, Governor Rendell laid out his proposal to raise new money for roads, bridges and mass transit and then hit the road for Tioga County, to press for a tax on natural gas extraction.
Franklin and Marshall College pollster and political analyst Terry Madonna:
"It's virtually without precedent for a governor in his last six or nine months to remain as active in promoting his set of policy ideas as Governor Rendell."
But while legislative leaders of both parties have committed to working out details of the natural gas tax, transportation funding is much more dicey. So says a spokesman for majority Republicans in the Senate, and Madonna believes Rendell will even have difficulty getting support in the House, where Democrats have a slimmer majority.
