Governor Christie On Voting: 'There's No Reason To Wait'
BRICK, N.J. (CBS/AP) – Governor Christie said all New Jerseyeans will be able to vote on Tuesday, if not before.
Christie, speaking from the FEMA Storm Relief Center in Brick Twp., said residents of the Garden State and those impacted by Hurricane Sandy, can go to their county clerk's office Friday through the weekend to vote.
"There's no reason to wait," said Christie.
The governor said trucks will be set up outside polling places that do not have power and voters will be able to file using paper ballots.
"We need to make sure we give everyone a transparent, open voting process in New Jersey," said Christie.
Officials are encouraging New Jersey voters to take advantage of the extended weekend hours at New Jersey's county elections offices which will be open at a minimum, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm from Friday to Monday.
Christie said it may take a little longer to count the votes this year, but, he said, "It'll probably be a late night anyway."
He said residents can text 877877 with their address on Tuesday or log onto www.elections.nj.gov to learn the location of their polling places.
