By David Madden
TRENTON, Nj. (CBS) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie met on Tuesday with several members of the state's congressional delegation to discuss recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Christie met behind closed doors for an hour-and-a-half in Trenton with Senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, as well as several congressmen to make sure everyone is on the same page.
"We have a commitment to the people of the state," Christie says, "that we are going to work together to make sure that the citizens of New Jersey are treated fairly and equitably in this process."
And receive assistance at the level given to Gulf Coast residents ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.
At least two congressmen expect little trouble in getting a supplemental spending bill through Congress and signed by President Obama to pay for storm-related damages. Seven delegation members have also penned a letter to the President requesting federal funds for beach replenishment and flood control projects.
