Gov. Christie's Higher Education Realignment Will Take Up To Two More Months
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Democrats hoping to get a better idea how much Gov. Chris Christie's proposed higher education realignment will cost New Jersey taxpayers must wait a while longer.
Higher Education Secretary Rochelle Hendricks says the number crunching will take up to two more months.
Hendricks is appearing before the Senate Budget Committee Tuesday to answer questions about the governor's proposed budget for colleges and universities, including financial aid.
Sen. Paul Sarlo, who chairs the panel, says he's "completely frustrated" that there's been no price tag on Christie's plan to reorganize the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Rutgers and Rowan universities.
Hendricks says committees at the affected schools are working out costs and other details.
Christie wants the reorganization finalized by July.
