Gov. Christie Reacts To Connecticut Tragedy, Orders Flags Lowered
TRENTON, NJ (CBS) – In new video released by New Jersey Governor Christie's press office, the governor addresses the tragedy in Connecticut, expressing his condolences to the families of the victims.
"The people of the state of Connecticut have endured today, just an unspeakable tragedy," Gov. Christie said. "Our hearts and prayers go out to Gov. Malloy and to the families of each of those victims…it's unthinkable...I want the folks in Connecticut to know that all of us in New Jersey are with them today."
Shortly thereafter, Gov. Christie also announced via Twitter that flags are to be lowered in the state to half-staff on Tuesday, Dec. 18th in honor of the victims.
Gov. Christie was reacting to the deadly shooting that killed 20 children and at least six adults at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday morning.
The gunman is believed to have killed himself after the incident.
