Google Names Exton As Pennsylvania's Digital Business Leader
By Ian Bush
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Google has named a Chester County community as Pennsylvania's leader in the digital economy. That translates to real-world dollars.
For Exton, it's all about using the web to its fullest.
"Businesses are embracing the Internet to find new customers or connect with existing customers and really to grow their operations," Google director of small business engagement Scott Levitan said. For its "eCity" awards, the search and advertising giant looked at how many businesses have a website.
"Will that website show up on my mobile phone? Are you using social media?"
And how much the businesses spend on ads on Google. Perhaps more a marketing exercise than a true measurement, then, but Kim Mercadante with the Riverstone Cafe in Exton says she sees a difference in the local economy:
"I think it's really holding its own. New places are opening up here every day."
Bear, DE and Princeton, NJ are Google's other eCities in our area.
