Good News For New Jersey Families Still Displaced Due To Sandy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - FEMA has extended Transitional Sheltering Assistance for an additional two weeks for New Jersey families displaced by superstorm Sandy.
At the request of Governor Chris Christie, FEMA's TSA program benefits are now set to expire March 9th for eligible families still impacted by Sandy.
"It's a temporary housing program designed to assist survivors in temporary lodging. In other words, putting people up throughout New Jersey in various hotels."
FEMA spokesman Darrell Habisch says the program helps survivors until they find long-term housing, and many still have not through no fault of their own.
"Currently, we have a little more than 1,000 households in hotels."
State and federal officials will re-evaluate and Habisch says there's a chance the deadline could be extended again if needed.
