Gold Stars And Demerits: Eagles Vs. Lions
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It seemed like we all changed our opinion of the snowy Eagles game at the very same time.
As it begun, most of what I saw and heard was something like, "I can't believe they're playing in this. What a disaster. Why do they even play games in this anymore? It's not 1965!"
Then, when LeSean McCoy ran all over the Lions, it became "instant classic! Man, win or lose, what a great game!"
Gold Star - LeSean McCoy
That was awesome. Not only having the best year of his career, and the best year of any running back in the NFL, but set the Eagles record for the most yards in one game. All that, and saved the season, in over a half foot of snow. Thank you, Shady.
Demerit - Eagles Kick Coverage
It was so bad that it seemed like no lead seemed safe.
Gold Star - Cary Williams
He hasn't been very good at playing cornerback this year, but it may have been his tip to Kelly that turned the offense around yesterday.
Demerit - The Michael Vick Idea
I've been as big a fan of Michael Vick as anyone, but it's amazing to me how many people were ready to pull the quarterback for the next 1,000 years because it was snowing and he was struggling. No better option during a snowstorm than a quarterback more likely to fumble and get hurt, right?
Gold Star - Donnie Jones
Donnie Long Ball did it again.
I normally have one more demerit, but I can't think of anyone who deserves it.
8-5, who'd have guessed?
