Gold Stars And Demerits: Eagles Vs. Vikings
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – We all learned a pretty solid lesson yesterday. "Trap games" are not an Andy Reid thing, they are an NFL thing.
It was ugly, but no need to panic. The Eagles win their final two games, they win the NFC East. Same as it was 24 hours ago.
Gold Star - Matt Cassel
People forget, at one time, Matt Cassel was a young, up and coming, desirable quarterback. Matt Cassel threw 27 touchdowns and just seven interceptions in 2010 for the Chiefs, and went to the Pro Bowl. Then the last three years happened.
He shredded the Eagles secondary yesterday (not that it's a particularly good one), and made the Eagles pay, even without Adrian Peterson.
Demerit - Patrick Chung
Patrick Chung got benched for Kurt Coleman.
Read that again.
Gold Star - Bennie Logan
In a game where the Eagles defense looked just terrible, Logan was the least terrible of all.
Demerit - Cary Williams
Cary Williams got benched for Roc Carmichael.
Read that again.
Gold Star - DeSean Jackson
He should have made an effort to make a tackle after the Foles interception. But it's hard to ignore 195 yards and a touchdown.
Demerit - Squib Kicks
It may have been the right decision, but it was infuriating to watch.
