Glitch As Revel Casino Begins Accepting Reservations
By Mike DeNardo
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (CBS) - There was a glitch as the reservation desk opened yesterday at Atlantic City's next new casino-hotel.
The new Revel casino and resort was supposed to begin accepting $239-a night room reservations at noontime. But, in the hours after noon, Revel spokeswoman Maureen Siman admits, the website (RevelResorts.com) was at best maddeningly slow.
"We received an incredible response to online reservations, both on the telephone and online. And so the system was somewhat overwhelmed."
Revel is booking 500 rooms for a soft eight-week opening, beginning April 2nd. The full $2.4-billion beachfront resort casino with the as-yet unexplained huge ball on its roof is scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend.
