GLASSBORO, N.J. (CBS) -- Construction is underway on a hotel that will anchor the revitalization effort along Rowan Boulevard in Glassboro, NJ.
The official groundbreaking for the 129-room "Courtyard by Marriott" hotel (top photo) is just the latest project along Rowan Boulevard, linking Rowan University with Glassboro's business district.
Student housing, a mixed-use building, and a Barnes & Noble bookstore are already open (photo below). Plans also call for a parking garage and another mixed-use building that will house Rowan University's graduate and continuing education programs.

"The goal is to make this a walkable, livable community," says Glassboro borough administrator Joe Brigandi, "so that people will want to work here, live here, become part of the community, become part of all the activities and entertainment that we provide throughout the year."
Hotel construction is expected to be finished by this time next year.
