Giordano: CPAC This Year Was Better Than Ever

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- CPAC this year was better than ever. This was my third visit and the energy and hopefulness were apparent. I was most thrilled my interview with Congresswoman Mia Love, the first female black Republican representative in history. Her emphasis on having to undo a lot of things was unique.
Senator Rand Paul, one of my favorites, was the winner in the big straw poll but Governor Scott Walker, who came in second, may have been a bigger winner. Governor Christie, who barely registered in the poll, was one of the biggest losers. I think he has no shot to be the nominee.
The worst moments of the whole event involved Jeb Bush. Bush clearly recruited people to attend CPAC and cheer his every syllable. It sounded like a bad laugh track. The substance of his remarks clearly indicated he is an amnesty guy.
I was also happy to see so many of our listeners that made the trip tp Washington. I mentioned one on the air who was 18 and whose dad took him to CPAC as a birthday present. This underlined how many participants at CPAC were under 30. This bodes well for the future of the conservative movement.
My recommendation is if you follow politics and want to be with people who definitely care about the country then go to CPAC 2016.
