Gingrich Tells PA Conservatives He Has No Plans To Drop Out Of 2012 Race
CAMP HILL, Pa. (AP) — Newt Gingrich says there's no reason to drop out of the race for the GOP nomination to challenge President Barack Obama, even though he's trailing in the polls and delegate tally.
Gingrich on Saturday spoke to Pennsylvania's largest annual gathering of conservatives, the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, and told them that he's the best conservative candidate with the campaign experience to engineer a general election win.
Gingrich was born in Pennsylvania and has four siblings living there. Pennsylvania's primary is April 24.
He says front-runner Mitt Romney doesn't have the nomination locked up and suggests that Romney isn't conservative enough for the Republican Party.
He also attacked fellow candidate Rick Santorum, the former Pennsylvania senator, for helping pave the way to the GOP's worst electoral losses since Watergate.
