Giant Bugs Make Morris Arboretum Their Home
By Lynne Adkins
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you like big bugs, you need to head over the Morris Arboretum.
There are 11 larger than life bugs are scattered over the 92 acre garden in Chestnut Hill.
Bob Gutowski is the director of education and programs at the Arboretum .
He says they're all made out of beautiful woods polished until they shine in the sunlight.
He also says, "we have insects, we have spiders, there's a praying mantis that weighs 12-hundred pounds, these are big bugs. There are ants that are making their way across the meadow, perhaps to a picnic near you, that are 25-feet long, there are 3 of them there, that's 75-feet of ants."
Children of all ages can follow a map to each of the sculptures, admire the workmanship of the New York artist and learn about each of the creatures.
