Getting Around Town On Foot Proves Difficult As Snow Turns To Slush

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Rising temperatures were helping melt the snow, but hindering some from getting around parts of Philadelphia on foot Saturday.
The wet slush and flooding on sidewalks made walking treacherous for some pedestrians.
"It's just a little slushy," said one woman, "so my feet are soaked right now!"
"Sometimes it's difficult," said one man, "because some of the people didn't clean the street, I guess."
And some neighborhood sidewalks were deceivingly dangerous.
"You'll think it's just snow," said another man, "and then you step into it and then it actually ends up being really slippery, and you can almost fall."
"You can't tell that there is black ice underneath you," said another woman, "and then it's already too late before you're on the sidewalk, you're done. You're on the ground!"
In areas known to flood, like Kelly Drive and Manayunk, waters hadn't reached the street, but levels were higher than usual.
"There are some pools and puddles," said another woman, "especially down where we park. It gets kind of flooded down there, so I have to park in like a higher area."
Those trying to get around in the mess were recommending other heading outdoors to wear proper shoes, take your time and watch your step.
