Get Fitted
Not fit (I can't even think about exercise on a Monday morning), fitted.
It is one of the keys to giving yourself the best chance to play well, and it just so happens that April is PGA Free Fitting and Trade-up month. You can receive a free 15-minute club fitting from a PGA or LPGA Professional in your area to find out what you should be playing when it comes to things like shaft flex and length, clubhead lie angle, and so on.
And the odds are you're playing clubs that do not properly fit. The PGA of America says a recent survey by the Sports and Leisure Research Group reported that up to nine out of 10 golfers may still be playing with the wrong golf equipment for their swing.
There is no obligation to buy any new equipment, but if you eventually decide to buy new, you can get trade in credit for your old clubs. The sponsors of this month-long event (The PGA of America, Golf Digest, Nike Golf, the PGA Trade-In Network and the PGA.com Value Guide) are trying to make that as convenient as possible for you and a nice value.
You can trade in your clubs online, based on fair market values from the PGA.com Value Guide. And if you're buying Nike clubs, you'll get an additional $25 to $100 trade-in bonus. Nothing like a little wheelin' and dealin' to get your week started!
You can get started here at this link, which allows you to plug in your zip code and choose from all the participating PGA/LPGA Professionals in your area.
Golfers who receive the free fittings in April are eligible to enter a sweepstakes to win a trip for two to the 2011 PGA Championship (Atlanta Athletic Club). There are two sets of Nike golf clubs as runner-up prizes.
