Gas Prices At Highest Level Ever For This Time Of Year

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Triple-A says gas prices are at the highest level ever for this time of year.
Spring is just a few days away, and according to Jana Tidwell of Triple-A Mid-Atlantic, drivers have never paid this much at the pump to start the season.
"Our national average $3.84," says Tidwell. "Here in the Philadelphia area, we're at $3.79 a gallon. South Jersey -- $3.61"
And analysts expect prices to keep climbing:
"Throughout the months of March and April, probably upwards of $4.00 a gallon," says Tidwell.
On the bright side, she adds, just like last year, prices should peak in May, then slowly retreat as the summer progresses.
