Gas Odor Briefly Suspends Portion Of Broad St. Subway
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A report of a gas odor caused SEPTA to temporarily suspend a portion of the Broad Street Subway around 9 a.m. An investigation found the source to be a gasoline container left on a Logan Station train platform.
SEPTA says service on its Broad Street Subway was temporarily suspended upon news of a possible gas problem, but an investigation resulted in service quickly resuming. Within the space of 15 minutes, the source was found and the subway was back in operation in both directions.
Both SEPTA and PGW's Cameron Kline, say the source of the gas smell turned out to be a container of gasoline that was found on the platform of the Logan Station. Fire department personnel safely removed the gasoline and subway service resumed.
There were no injuries, there was no fire and it was not immediately determined how or why the gasoline was on the Logan Station platform.
