Gas Leak Forces Evacuations In South Jersey
GALLOWAY, NJ (CBS) – Numerous homes in the Smithville section of Galloway Township were evacuated on Friday after a gas leak.
Officials say that a self-employed worker was attempting to extract a large stump on the 700 block of Gull Wing Court around 10:46 a.m. when the gas line broke.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene and evacuated about 10-15 homes in the immediate area.
South Jersey Gas Company also responded and contained the ruptured gas line.
There were no injuries.
