Gaming Officials Keeping Quiet About Plans To Award 2nd Casino License In Philadelphia

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) - Members of the Gaming Control Board aren't tipping their hand as to when a decision might be coming on who will get the license for a second casino in Philadelphia.
When the record was closed on the application process for a second Philadelphia casino on February 26th, William Ryan, the chairman of the Gaming Control Board, said he hoped that a decision might come in 60 days. But that was just a goal and those 60 days have come and gone.
And after Wednesday's gaming board meeting, Ryan didn't want to speculate on when a decision might come.
"Well, I'm an optimist, I'll say that," Ryan said. "But all I can tell you is that we are working hard, and we continue to deliberate."
"It's a very difficult decision," Gaming Board member Keith McCall added. "It could break in a day, it could break in a week, it could break in two months. But we're discussing, we're at the table, we're talking."
A qualified majority of the seven member board must agree on the winning applicant. All four members appointed by legislative leaders must be joined by at least one of three gubernatorial appointees.
