Gambling On Your Smartphone Might Soon Be Legal In New Jersey
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (CBS) -- Imagine being able to play an Atlantic City slot machine on your Smartphone. Those who provide the machines and computer systems for the gaming industry expect that to be legal in America at some point and are getting prepared.
Sure you can download free games of all types. But the casino industry sees the internet as the next great frontier. And companies like Bally Technologies, based in Las Vegas, showed what they can do at a recent exposition.
"The key to us is providing the same experience to players, whether they're in the casino, or they are at their home computer, or if they're sitting in line at the grocery store," spokesman Mike Trask explained.
And he insists the online games have all the look and feel of the real thing. New Jersey is considering online gaming within the state's borders, with servers based at Atlantic City's casinos to boost business…and the state's take on revenues.
