Gadgets Galore As 2014 Consumer Electronics Show Opens

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The exhibit floor has opened at the Las Vegas Convention Center, where the Consumer Electronics Show is buzzing with plenty of new gadgets. KYW tech editor Ian Bush reports some will be out soon, while others exist -- for now -- only in the mind of marketers.
Whirlpool's kitchen of the future is one of those concepts -- it's a touchscreen cooktop, which would let you keep a recipe on the same surface as a simmering pot, along with Facebook, Pinterest, and other social updates -- all right next to what'll end up as dinner.
That's at least a few years off.
Out sooner, the Cube 3 from 3D Systems. The 3D printer will retail for under a grand -- and price has been one of the obstacles for this technology. Top brand MakerBot compact Replicator Mini 3D printer will ship in the spring for a little over $1300.
Mophie is out with the Space Pack for iPhone. With a small footprint, it boosts battery life and adds storage -- up to 32 GB for photos, videos, and music. That's out in March and starts at $150.
Sony's PlayStation Now is a cloud subscription service that streams games on the PS4, 3, Vita, and even some Sony TVs.
And Mercedes is adding dashboard support for the Nest connected thermostat -- if you have one of those in your home, you can crank up the heat from your car.
