Funeral Held For Burlington County Soldier Killed In Afghanistan
BORDENTOWN, N.J. (AP) -- Hundreds gather in central New Jersey for the funeral of a soldier who was killed in combat in Afghanistan this month.
Army Pfc. Benjamin Moore of Bordentown City and two other soldiers were killed Jan. 12 by an improvised explosive device.
Mourners crowded into Trinity United Methodist Church on Saturday while dozens of others stood outside, braving frigid temperatures to show support for Moore's family.
The 23-year-old Moore was a 2006 graduate of Bordentown Regional High School. He also served as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician with the Hope Hose Fire Co. in his hometown, and was posthumously named the company's chief.
Moore was assigned to a unit home-based at Fort Drum, N.Y. He had joined the Army in 2009 and was deployed to Afghanistan last
May.
