Fresh Off Offensive Explosion, Union Look to Tame Rapids

CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) - The Philadelphia Union had scored 8 goals all season in MLS play heading into last weekend's game in Toronto. They nearly doubled that total in 90 minutes, picking up a 6-2 victory. The first tally in that game was scored by midfielder Gabe Farfan. It was the rookie's first MLS goal and it came a week after his twin brother Michael found the back of the net for the first time with the Union.

"It was an early goal," says Farfan. "It was nice to open my account and see all the other goals come in after mine."

Farfan's goal came two minutes into the win over Toronto and was the first of the six Philadelphia scored that day.  The 22-year-old midfielder is getting more and more playing time as the season progresses and he says he's happy with how his initial MLS campaign is coming together.

"I feel comfortable -- a little more comfortable -- as the season goes on, as it progresses. My first start in Portland was nice. I didn't know I was going to start until the last minute and this one (against Toronto) I knew a bit earlier. So it was nice to be able to prepare a bit more. But I do; I feel comfortable."

Gabe says the transition to the pro game has been pretty smooth for him as a rookie, but it does help to have his twin brother Michael on the team.

"It's definitely nice to have my brother around, (he's) one of my best friends that I can talk to off the field or on the field."

Colorado is middle of the pack in the Western Conference, and Farfan says, in order to be successful on Saturday, the Union have to focus on what they do well.

"We just need to stick to our game plan. We know to show everything we have, implement everything that we have been training on and hopefully things will go our way."

First kick on Saturday in Colorado is set for 9 p.m.
