Free Shoes
Tiger Woods returns to competitive golf today, and while many people will focus on who is (and who isn't) on his bag, I'm much more interested in what's on his feet.
Tiger this weekend will be wearing his new prototype Nike Free golf shoes, an athletic-style shoe similar to the ones he works out in and has been using for casual wear. They apparently borrow some design beakthroughs from other Nike footwear, and give the front of the foot more freedom but offer better overall stability.
We have already seen golf shoe styles begin to change with Fred Couples and his Ecco's, and this could mark the start of another big shift towards more high-tech athletic golf shoes. Sneaker-like golf shoes are nothing new, but most have been looked upon as just cheap imitators for guys with sore feet.

And from Mark Soltau on Tiger's own website...
Finally, another story (including a photo gallery) in the Portland Business Journal...
